1. Yes, this look requires a lot of colors! I used (L to R) Essie Silken Cord, Mattese Elite Neon Explosive, Mattese Elite Almost Famous, Essie Going Incognito, Mattese Elite Lapis, Mattese Elite Pucci Licious, Sally Hansen xTreme Wear White On, China Glaze Passion, and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Copperhead.
2. Begin by painting all nails with a simple white polish.
3. Using a metallic gold, paint the tips of every nail except for the ring finger. Rather than painting one horizontal stripe, I find it easier and more controlled to do short vertical dabs of color all the way across the tip.
4. For a little glitz, add gold or copper glitter to your gold-tipped nails.
5. Your ring finger gets the rainbow, so gather all your colors! I carefully dabbed a small amount of each color across the tip. This was easier than it looks since the width of a polish brush was roughly the width I needed in order to fit all six colors across the tip. The edges aren’t perfect, but if that bothers you you could probably come in for some clean-up afterwards with the white polish.
6. Let everything dry completely so the colors don’t smear into the white polish, and then add a good top coat. That’s it!
